Thought i would give Porthcawl ago today, after Kelvin said it would be good, got there a bit late really. Most out on 4.2m-4.5m i was told, but rigged 5.0m after speaking to kelvin as it had dropped off a little, & went for 86lt instead of 76lt.
When i got on it was just right, sailing somewhere new is always weird & took a little while to relax. But once dialled in it was Ace, Big swells out the back & meaty waves on the inside,After HT the wind increased again & so did the waves, had some big air on the way out & some nice backside rides, Some waves really dumping hard & probably logo high which added to the excitment. After a backloop attemp & then the follwing rinsings called it a day well happy.
Chatted to Kelvin breifly up at the car park & when he went i got on at Newton as there was loads out there, this again was excellent, no where near as manic as Trecco with flat water with head high+ waves coming in & they were miles apart, again the swell was big out from headland & gybing on them was like silk, super smooth.had some big jumps & some nice rides, but it picked up too much for the 5.0, so called it day well happy.
The 2 beaches are such a contrast, 1 big & a bit scary with dumpy waves, the other super smooth with nice easy waves coming in.
Cant wait to get back.....
